Fire Ball

Layers repeated Fire Ball hits with Meteor impacts and lingering fire to pressure stationary packs and bosses. Fire Ball alone attacks rapidly, but areas with many fire immunes are difficult before upgrading equipment.

Strength

Sorceress base Strength: 10. A uses Chains of Honor 20, Sandstorm Trek 15, Mara's 5, Torch 15 and Annihilus 15, plus 76 allocated points, for 156 Strength to equip a Spirit Monarch. B allocates 146 points without Strength bonuses. Only bonuses from equipment retained on swap are counted; add points if your item rolls leave a shortfall.

Dexterity

A meets the Flail's Dexterity requirement through Torch and Annihilus. B uses a Crystal Sword and Monarch. Do not add Dexterity for defense or block chance.

Vitality

From 460 stat points at level 90, A 76 Strength, B subtract 146 Strength points and put the remaining 384/314 into Vitality. This assumes all 15 stat points from quests and counts only equipment bonuses retained on swap.

Energy

is a Vitality build with 0 allocated Energy. A uses an Infinity mercenary without Meditation, relying on Warmth, equipment mana and potions. B uses Insight's Meditation to support mana recovery.

Includes 12 quest points; equipment skill bonuses are excluded. Unlisted skills have 0 points. A and B use the same allocation.

Investment order

Fire Bolt·Fire Ball to start, then Warmth 1·Teleport . Leaf is an early option, but it is two-handed and cannot be used with a shield.

  1. Fire Ball 20
  2. Meteor 20
  3. Fire Bolt 20
  4. Fire Mastery 20 to completion, then put the remaining points at level 90 into Inferno 14.

At 91–96, invest in Inferno 20; at 97–99, Warmth 4. Inferno provides Meteor's lingering-fire synergy; it does not switch the main attack to channeled Inferno.

Equipment skill bonuses and allocation notes

Allocate 80 points to the four main skills, 8 to prerequisites and support, and 13 extra to Inferno, totaling 101.

14 hard points in Inferno synergize Meteor's lingering fire damage per second, not Fire Ball's direct hit.

Operating requirements

A Infinity's Conviction lowers enemy elemental resistance, but it does not provide Insight's Meditation. The weapon's own enemy lightning resistance reduction applies only to the mercenary wielding it. B Insight sustains mana. Give the mercenary life steal and resistances on the helm, offsetting Andariel's Visage's fire-resistance penalty with a Ral rune or another source.

Swap details

Operating requirements

Call to Arms provides supporting buffs. Check all speed and resistance targets on the weapon used to attack. Battle Command does not increase synergy hard points.

Upgrade order

  1. B should first complete its 110% FCR and resistances.
  2. Add Flickering Flame and a fire Sunder Charm together with resistance support.
  3. Improve the Infinity mercenary's survival, then move to Heart of the Oak, Arachnid Mesh and Chains of Honor.
  4. Add Fire skill charms and Call to Arms, adjusting jewelry to avoid dropping below 105% FCR.

Mechanics and notes

Patch 3.3 · Ladder 15 · 2026-09-28

Fire Ball synergies

Fire Bolt and Meteor each increase Fire Ball damage by +14% per 1 hard point. With 20 in each, total synergy damage is +560%.

Fire Mastery

Fire Mastery and equipment Fire Skill Damage add within the same damage-increase category. Equipment with +15% does not necessarily mean 15% more final damage.

FCR and casting delay

A 40+35+20+20=115%, B 35+25+30+20=110%. Both meet the 105% FCR, 8-frame breakpoint for ordinary spells, but Meteor's separate casting delay remains.

Strengths, limitations and farming style

Strengths

Fire Ball alone allows rapid repeated attacks.

Strong in corridors and boss fights where Meteor can land reliably.

Limitations

Areas with many fire immunes are difficult before equipment upgrades.

Meteor can easily miss fast-moving enemies.

Additional variants

Phoenix shield variant

Replacing Spirit with Phoenix loses 35% FCR. The current A drops from 115% to 80%, so do not switch until the amulet, rings or other slots provide at least 25% more.

Warmth-first variant

If mana sustain matters more than Meteor's lingering fire, reduce Inferno from 14 to its 1-point prerequisite and increase Warmth from 1 to 14, exchanging 13 points.
