D2R Gold Gambling
Gold gambling
Discover 5 gambling activities in Diablo 2. Try your luck at a big win.
How it works
- Open the gambling menu in town
Talk to Gheed (Act 1), Elzix (Act 2), Alkor (Act 3), Jamella (Act 4), or Nihlathak or Anya (Act 5), then choose Gamble.
- Buy items with gold
Choose an equipment slot and buy an item with gold. Its quality and modifiers are determined on purchase and revealed immediately.
- Keep useful results and try again
Keep items with the modifiers you need and sell the rest. Spare Magic amulets can also be used for crafting.
Getting started Circlets · Amulets · Rings are good places to start.
Shared rules and probabilitiesMeeting the level requirement does not guarantee a modifier. The levels below make a modifier eligible to appear. Whether it appears and its value remain random.
Circlets
A popular gambling target for +2 class skills combined with Faster Cast Rate.
When to gamble
- Lv. 87+
- When buying Coronets
All results meet the level requirement for +2 class skills.
- Lv. 92+
- When including Circlets
This threshold includes the Circlet's +3 magic level. Coronets receive +8.
Coronets and Circlets have different thresholds. Results upgraded to Tiaras or Diadems follow the affix-generation rules of those bases.
Combinations to check first
+2 class skills · 20% FCR
This is a useful starting combination. 2 sockets, Strength, Life and All Resistances can make it more useful.
+2 class skills · 30% FRW
For builds that need movement speed. Also check sockets and the attributes and resistances your build needs.
+2 class skills · 20% FCR · 30% FRW
FCR and FRW occupy two suffix slots. Only one additional suffix can be Strength, Dexterity or Life.
Also check Magic items: +3 to a skill tree with 20% FCR. A +3 skill-tree bonus is Magic -only and cannot appear on Rare items.
Amulet
Recommended levels differ between Rare amulets with +2 class skills and materials for Crafted amulets.
When to gamble
- Lv. 95+
- Rare amulets as the target
Gambled item level is at least 90, so every result can roll +2 class skills.
- Lv. 93+
- Crafted ingredients as the target
When gambling and crafting with the same character at level 93 or higher, Crafted results meet the +2 class-skill level requirement.
- Lv. 86~94
- Trying earlier with some eligible results
+2 class skills can appear, but some gambled item levels are too low for them to be eligible.
Level 93 ensures eligibility for +2 skills on Crafted amulets. This differs from the level requirement for +2 skills on gambled Rare amulets.
Combinations to check first
+2 class skills · 10% FCR
A basic caster combination. Look for the Strength, Dexterity, Life, Mana or resistances your build needs.
+2 class skills · All Resistances
If your setup does not need FCR, also check combinations with good Life, Mana and attributes.
Useful modifiers for your class
The same numbers can have different uses depending on class and FCR breakpoint. Do not judge by maximum values alone.
Also check Magic items: +3 to a skill tree with 10% FCR can appear on Magic amulets. Gambled Rare amulets have an FCR cap of 10%; 20% FCR requires a Crafted amulet.
Ring
For casters, check FCR and attributes; for physical attackers, start with leech combinations.
When to gamble
- Lv. 79+
- Strength +20 as a target
Every result meets the generation requirements for Strength +20 and Life +40.
- Lv. 82+
- Including Life Leech
Life Stolen per Hit of up to 8% is eligible on every result.
- Lv. 91+
- Including the highest Mana Leech
Mana Stolen per Hit of up to 6% is eligible on every result.
A ring's base gambling price is 50,000 gold at any level, before vendor price discounts.
Combinations to check first
10% FCR · Strength · Life
Look for caster rings with Mana and resistances as well. FCR, Strength and Life occupy all three suffix slots.
Life Leech · Mana Leech
A dual-leech combination for physical attacks. Choose one additional suffix, such as Strength or Life, and look for prefixes such as resistances and Attack Rating.
10% FCR · High Mana · Resistances
For setups that depend on Mana. Check whether the ring supplies the attributes and resistances your character lacks.
Gloves
Look for an Amazon or Assassin skill tree combined with Increased Attack Speed.
When to gamble
- Lv. 49+
- Basic target · +2 skills / 20% IAS
Both modifiers are eligible on normal Leather Gloves results.
- Lv. 62+
- Dexterity +15 maximum
Normal Leather Gloves results meet the generation requirement for high Dexterity.
- Lv. 65+
- Strength +15 maximum
High Strength is also eligible on normal Leather Gloves results.
These levels apply to normal Leather Gloves (qlvl 3). Requirements change if the purchase upgrades to Exceptional or Elite, or if you choose another base.
Combinations to check first
+2 Javelin and Spear Skills · 20% IAS
For a Javazon. Check additional useful modifiers such as Strength, Dexterity and resistances.
+2 Bow and Crossbow / Passive and Magic Skills · 20% IAS
First check whether the skill tree suits your Amazon's setup.
+2 Martial Arts · 20% IAS
For a Martial Arts Assassin. Assess Strength, Dexterity and resistances against your intended setup.
Also check Magic items: +3 Javelin and Spear Skills with 20% IAS is a Magic -only target. The +3 skill bonus requires a higher affix level than the level-49 threshold above.
Boots
Start with movement speed and resistances, then consider FHR and Magic Find.
When to gamble
- Lv. 43+
- Basic target · 30% FRW / Resistances
Normal Boots results can roll 30% FRW, 10% FHR, +40% Single Resistance and 25% MF.
- Lv. 52+
- Dexterity +9 maximum
High Dexterity is eligible on normal Boots results.
- Lv. 58+
- Mana +40 maximum
Normal Boots results also meet the generation requirement for high Mana.
These levels apply to normal Boots (qlvl 3). Do not treat level 43 as optimal for every boot base. Affix requirements change with the base and upgrade result.
Combinations to check first
30% FRW · 3 different resistances
A combination that supplies several needed resistances in one slot. Compare both each resistance and their total.
30% FRW · 10% FHR · Resistances
Combines movement speed and hit recovery. Check your character's FHR breakpoint.
30% FRW · Resistances · MF
For farming. Secure movement speed and the resistances needed to survive before comparing MF.
Belt
Target a Rare belt combining Faster Hit Recovery, Life and Strength.
When to gamble
- Lv. 36+
- Basic target · FHR / Life
Normal Sash results can roll 24% FHR, Life +60 and +30% Single Resistance.
- Lv. 64+
- Strength +20 maximum
Normal Sash results meet the generation requirement for Strength +20.
- Lv. 77+
- Strength +30 maximum
Even the highest Strength affix is eligible on normal Sash results.
These levels apply to a normal Sash (qlvl 3). They do not apply unchanged to other belt bases or upgraded results. Also check attribute requirements and potion slots.
Combinations to check first
24% FHR · Strength · Life
The three core belt suffixes. Check the remaining prefixes for the resistances you need.
High Strength · Life · Resistances
If you do not need more FHR, focus on attributes and resistances.
Extra Gold · Strength or Life · Resistances
For gold farming. Extra Gold is also a suffix, so it competes for slots with other suffix targets.

Level calculations and terminology
For amulets and rings, item level determines affix level (alvl). For example, +2 class-skill amulets require alvl 90. The lowest result reaches 90 at character level 95, so all gambled results meet that requirement.
At level 86, 1 of the item levels 81–90 qualify; at level 90, 5 of 85–94 qualify. These 10% and 50% figures are the proportions meeting the level condition, not the chance to roll +2 skills.
The glove, boot and belt tables apply only to normal Leather Gloves, Boots and Sashes (base qlvl 3). Within this range, alvl = ilvl − 1, so the character-level thresholds add 6 to the desired alvl. Other bases and Exceptional or Elite results require a separate calculation.
A Crafted item's ilvl is ⌊crafting character level ÷ 2⌋ + ⌊ingredient item level ÷ 2⌋. Gambling an amulet at level 93 and crafting it on the same character gives a minimum of 46 + 44 = 90.
- FCR
- Faster Cast Rate
- IAS
- Increased Attack Speed
- FRW
- Faster Run/Walk
- FHR
- Faster Hit Recovery

This page focuses on Rare modifier combinations. Their usefulness depends on your build and other equipment, so first check that the modifiers you need occur together.
