D2R Cube Reroll
Cube rerolling
Discover 5 gambling activities in Diablo 2. Try your luck at a big win.
How it works
- Prepare the target and ingredients
For blue Magic items, prepare 3 Perfect Gems; for yellow Rare items, prepare 6 Perfect Skulls.
- Transmute in the Horadric Cube
Place the target and ingredients in the Cube and select Transmute. The existing modifiers are replaced with new ones.
- Check the result and repeat
Keep the item if it has the modifiers you need. To reroll again, add fresh gems or skulls. Rare results have a recalculated item level.
For your first target, consider Grand Charms with a known item level · Rare Diadem .
Shared rulesItem level (ilvl) is different from required level. Do not assume that an item of unknown origin can roll the highest modifiers.
Grand Charm
Start with a Magic Grand Charm whose item level is known.
How to transmute
Transmute 1 Magic Grand Charm + 3 Perfect Gems in the Cube. Gem types can be mixed, including Perfect Skulls.
The result is also a Magic Grand Charm with the same item level. Keep the charm and repeat the same recipe.
Check ingredient level
- 50+
- Skill tree +1 as the target
This threshold refers to the Grand Charm's item level (ilvl).
- 91+
- Skills +1 and Life 41~45 as the target
This makes the highest Life suffix eligible to appear.
Charms dropped by Hell Diablo, Nihlathak or Baal are at least 91. For Terror Zones, check monster level. Required level alone does not reveal ilvl.
Combinations to check first
-
A skill tree you use +1 · Life 45
Matching your build's skill tree matters as much as the Life roll.
-
Skill tree +1 · Life or another useful modifier
Life does not have to reach 45 for a charm to be useful. Even the desired skill tree alone can be worth keeping.
-
Character level does not affect the reroll's item level
The 3-gem recipe for Magic items preserves the original ilvl. Switching to a higher-level character does not raise a low-level ingredient's level.
Magic Jewel
Both modifiers must match, so decide the target combination first.
How to transmute
Transmute 1 Magic Jewel + 3 Perfect Gems. Its existing modifiers disappear and reroll at the same ilvl.
Minimum item level by target
| Target combination | Required ilvl |
|---|---|
| Enhanced Damage 40% + Increased Attack Speed 15% | 66+ |
| All Resistances 15 + Increased Attack Speed 15% | 39+ |
| All Resistances 15 + Faster Hit Recovery 7% | 44+ |
Individual affix thresholds are alvl 66 for ED, 39 for IAS, 34 for All Resistances and 44 for FHR. The table uses the higher requirement of the two desired modifiers.
Target modifiers
-
40% ED · 15% IAS
Combines physical attack damage and speed.
-
15% IAS · All Resistances 15
Meet an attack-speed breakpoint while adding resistances.
-
15% IAS · Single Resistance 30%
A combination to cover a specific missing resistance, such as Fire or Lightning.
Magic Jewels allow up to 1 prefix and 1 suffix. All targets in the table cannot appear together on a single jewel.
Rare Diadem
The 6-skull reroll takes advantage of the base's high magic level.
How to transmute
Transmute 1 Rare Diadem + 6 Perfect Skulls. All existing modifiers and socket state are regenerated.
Why choose a Diadem?
The 6-skull recipe lowers result ilvl, but a Diadem's base level 85 and magic level 18 bring affix level to the cap of 99.
Even after repeated rerolls, +2 class skills and other high-level affixes remain eligible. You do not need to raise character level to keep these affixes eligible.
Do not apply the same conclusion to Circlets, Coronets or Tiaras. Keeping high-level affixes eligible does not guarantee rolling them.
Combinations to check first
-
Class skills +2 · FCR 20% · 2 Socket
Skills and sockets are prefixes; FCR is a suffix. Also check the attributes and resistances you need.
-
Class skills +2 · FCR 20% · FRW 30%
The two speed modifiers occupy two suffix slots. At most one additional suffix can be Strength, Dexterity or Life.
-
Limit: 3 prefixes + 3 suffixes
Rare items allow at most 6 affixes. The 2-socket affix also uses one slot; the Magic -only 3-socket affix cannot appear.
Magic Circlets
Check Magic -only prefix/suffix combinations and the base's socket limit.
How to transmute
Transmute 1 Magic Circlet-class item + 3 Perfect Gems. The original ilvl is preserved.
Requirements differ by base
| Base | +2 ilvl for class skills | Socket limit |
|---|---|---|
| Circlet | 87+ | 2 |
| Coronet | 82+ | 2 |
| Tiara | 77+ | 3 |
| Diadem | Any ilvl | 3 |
These levels refer to +2 class skills. They are not a universal minimum for every Magic target. Diadems make all affix levels eligible.
Targeting a two-modifier combination
-
Skill tree +3 · FCR 20%
The +3 bonus applies to one skill tree, not all class skills.
-
3 sockets · FRW 30%
On Tiaras and Diadems, target a socket prefix together with an FRW suffix.
-
3 sockets · Life 100
This target is Magic -only. Circlets and Coronets have a base socket limit of 2.
Larzuk adds at most 2 sockets to a Magic item, so this method cannot produce 3 sockets.
Magic Monarch
A narrow target combining a socket prefix and a blocking suffix.
How to transmute
Transmute 1 Magic Monarch + 3 Perfect Gems. The target is the Jeweler's prefix combined with the of Deflecting suffix.
Ingredient requirements
- 77+
- Monarch item level
The minimum reflects Monarch qlvl 72 and the Jeweler's affix at alvl 55.
Use a blue Magic Monarch. A gray 4-socket Monarch or a Unique shield is ineligible for this Magic reroll.
Target combination
-
4 sockets · Faster Block Rate 30% · Increased Chance of Blocking 20%
This combines 1 Jeweler's prefix and 1 blocking suffix. Both blocking lines come from a single affix.
-
A different use from Spirit
Magic quality prevents a runeword: inserting Spirit runes into its 4 sockets does not form Spirit.
Existing sockets and inserted items are not preserved. Once you get a useful result, stop rerolling and keep it separately.
Other recipes
Rerolling, adding sockets and upgrading a base are different operations.
Rare Limits of the 6-skull recipe
Result ilvl = ⌊character level × 0.4⌋ + ⌊ingredient ilvl × 0.4⌋. Round each term down before adding.
| Targets | What to check |
|---|---|
| Ring | Even a level 99 character and ilvl 99 ingredient produce ilvl 78 on the first attempt. 6% Mana Leech and other high-level affixes become ineligible. |
| Amulet | The first result is at most ilvl 78, so +2 class skills (alvl 90) cannot roll. |
| Gloves · Boots · Belts | Requirements depend on the base's qlvl and desired affixes. There is no single optimal level for every slot. |
More Cube recipes
| Ingredients | Result and requirements |
|---|---|
| Rare + 1 Perfect Skull + 1 Stone of Jordan | Rerolls the same item type as Rare quality. ilvl = ⌊clvl × 0.66⌋ + ⌊ilvl × 0.66⌋, capped at 99. The ring is consumed. |
| Unsocketed Rare equipment + 3 Perfect Skulls + 1 Stone of Jordan | Preserves modifiers and adds 1 socket. Only equipment capable of having sockets is eligible. |
| Magic weapon + 3 Chipped Gems | Rerolls modifiers, 1~2 sockets, ilvl 25. |
| Magic weapon + 3 Flawless Gems | Rerolls modifiers, 1~2 sockets, ilvl 30. |
| socketed weapon + 3 Normal Gems | Magic weapon result, 1~2 sockets, ilvl 30. |
Weapon sockets cannot exceed the base limit. Some high-qlvl bases can roll high affixes even at a low fixed ilvl, so do not assume they are all impossible.
The 6-Perfect-Skull recipe cannot hold items larger than 3×2 because of Cube space. Upgrading a base does not reroll its existing modifiers.
Before you start
If you need the Horadric Cube, find it in Act 2, Halls of the Dead Level 3. Open it, insert the ingredients and select Transmute.
What changes during rerolling?
-
Magic 3 gems: ilvl preserved
You can mix gem types and include Perfect Skulls. The Magic quality and base remain; affixes are rerolled.
-
Rare 6 skulls: ilvl recalculated
Repeated rerolls usually lower ilvl. Do not apply the Diadem's affix-level exception to other bases.
-
Old modifiers and inserted items are not preserved
You cannot keep one good modifier and reroll only the others.
Before spending gems
For Grand Charms, check the desired skill and Life requirements; for jewels, check the combination's affix level. Perfect Amethysts and Rubies are also crafting ingredients.
These targets are usage examples, not a ranking that guarantees profit from the ingredients spent.
